From famed golfer to just a regular sex addict: Can’t we look pass that?

Posted: February 21, 2010 in Freedom of Expression

Tiger Woods, the name which was once synonym to golf has now been “awarded” all sorts of funky names from the media due to his sex addiction. Have we forgotten who he is? Why are we so quick to judge? Had he been just a regular ‘joe’, his addiction would not have caused even a glance from the likes of us. But the fact that Tiger Woods is a famed golfer, a celebrity, a  man with a whole lot of fortune, we somehow feel that we have the right to judge every single thing that he does.

I’m not saying I’m an angel when it comes to wanting to know about celebrities. I do watch channel E quite often and I enjoy some news on my favorite celebrities like Johnny Deep( who hardly ever says much in the media), Eva Mendes and a few others.  If they were to have babies, get married etc, I’m all too happy for them. But should the news be not so pleasant, why do we crave for more blood? Why do we pick and point at every single move he or she makes after that?

I just googled Tiger Woods for the sake of proving a point. There I have an abundance of news detailing  former mistresses (with very high profile backgrounds-porn stars), suspicion n on his new gift to his wife, rehab stories…blah blah and the list goes on. I’m not by any measure saying that Tiger Woods is innocent or good or is allowed to cheat on his wife because of his status as a celebrity.

All I’m saying is that, Tiger Wood or not, we all are humans. We all make mistakes. How would you like for your mistakes to be plastered all over the media? If you were the spouse? If you were the daughter? If you were the mother? How would that make you feel? As recited in the bible in John 8:7 (reflected below), if you have no fault then you have every right …but are any of us actually 100% clean? I doubt it…

……“Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her.”…. -John 8:7
