Forum on Negarakuku Controversy

Posted: August 19, 2007 in Freedom of Speech

With all the hu-ha concerning the Negarakuku video clip that Namewee produced not so long ago, the whole country especially the dungus up there have got into a frenzy making something out of nothing resulting in chaos. Well anyway due to the massive highlight of this I suppose it only makes sense that a public forum be held to discuss the controversy and patriotism in this context. Among issues that will be discussed will be inter-ethnic relations in Malaysia, lesson from the past etc.

According to<“Bobjots blog”>, a competition for The Most Creative Alternative Negaraku Video Clip will also be launched. Details are as follows:

Monday, 20 August 2007

8.00 pm

Selangor & Chinese Assembly Hall
(location map here)

Panelists include Tian Chua, Khalid Jaafar, Hishamuddin Rais and Amin Idris.

  1. wong says:

Change namewee song and keep the video and he will win it 😆

  2. anonymous says:

Daniel aka Gallivanter’s version of Negaraku is probably even more controversial, it’s been on youtube since March:

  3. cherwith says:

Actually its not so much about the content, its rather how much publicity it gets. If the video insults gila-gila also and only you and me watch it, they couldn’t be bothered. But on the other hand, namewee videos has been watched on such a large scale so they can’t let him go scott free that would be bad for their image.
